Sunny Side Up...
Let’s be honest there are plenty of reasons to be a bit negative right now (you know, like the fact that business is dropping off or the kids are at home 24/7, or that this is most time we’ve spent as a family of 4 in forever). However, it’s not going to do me, my mental health or you lot reading this any good to think like that so let’s talk about the nice positive things I’ve found so far about lock down…
Work first:
I’ve learnt to stop printing so much – I’m very visual so I like to see things printed out in front of me. With two people and the kids battering my instant ink page limit (and my stash of printer paper) I’m doing most of it on screen so yay for the trees!
I’m getting time to catch up – having busy successful clients necessitates a degree of tail chasing on a weekly basis. With the day to day no longer happening for a lot of people I’m getting a chance to do all the background stuff that often gets side lined – SEO, blog writing, contacting leads… it’s very satisfying
I actually take breaks – I’m awful at that usually, I work through, I work until late at night but with the kids at home and our shutdown schedule in place they need my input at various parts of the day so it’s allowing me to stop regularly and interact which feels pretty good.
And then personal:
I’m doing things I usually hate doing – I hate board games, yes I know it’s miserable and miserly but I do. However, I’ve made board game hour part of our daily routine and each day we Facetime my Mum and she ‘plays’ along with us. It’s fun and despite some small arguments it’s going well.
I’m eating better – paranoia has kicked in her but I’m scared of running out of food (or not being able to get any more) so whilst we have our normal food shop supplies in I’m being more careful about what I eat… which means 3 meals a day and no snacking, that on top of Joe Wicks each day (I wish) and at this rate I’ll come out a different person.
Dance like no one is watching – mostly to Oti’s daily lesson on Facebook live but actually this is more about the fact that my daughter (now 11 and a taciturn pre-teen) is doing things she’d never do because no one can see her… like dancing with Oti, playing nicely with her brother and my favourite – holding my hand when we go for a walk.
Oh, and I finally managed to make a decent fried egg (which must have been on my mind when I titled this blog!)
See, it’s not all dreary! Plus the sun’s out so my vitamin D is up. Happy Thursday everyone 😊
