Spinning Plates started (almost) 10 years ago as a way to survive after the corporate world almost killed me. 

I was at my lowest ebb, completely burnt out and utterly traumatised, suffering PTSD, my depression triggered and terrified of the future. My business was a chance to live my life differently but it wasn’t an easy, or even conscious, choice.

For a long time I stayed small, healing my wounds and working on building my confidence back up and at the same time my business stabilised. I matched my old, corporate wage in turnover and I was surviving. 

But I wasn’t born to be small, everything I had been through personally and professionally was to reach me lessons and to help me become my true self so I started listening to my body, to my intuition and I started to step up.

Spinning Plates started as a virtual assistant business- before it was a recognised career choice and my whole mission was to stop other women feeling the overwhelm and burnout that I had suffered. It’s something Im incredibly passionate about and it’s driven my business for the last ten years. 

But as I’ve stepped up and stepped into my power I recognised I have more to give and that’s when I transitioned to an OBM model, offering a higher level of support. 

I followed my instincts and my passion and I have built an amazing roster of clients that I truly love serving every day. Taking time out since the start of 2024 has allowed me to focus on where I am now and how far I’ve come and it’s led me to make a huge decision. 

Spinning Plates has served to well for the last 10 years, it’s a business I love with my whole being but it no longer encapsulates what I offer and what I want to offer going forward. 

My new brand, an exciting evolution of my business, crystallises everything that I believe in, everything I am passionate about and the difference I want to make in the world. I have so many ideas, so much I want to do and I can’t wait for this journey!

Despite this being a big change, I’m not throwing the baby out with the bath water here- everything I’m doing is incredibly intentional and completely aligned with my goals and values. 

So although Spinning Plates started as a VA service and expanded to include an OBM offering it still didn’t fully encapsulate the skills, experience and service that I offered clients. 

When I did a review it turned out I was already working with, and loved working with, fractional directors who were supporting SMEs with executive level leadership and strategy. I found that most often, these people were absolutely fantastic at the high level, big picture work but the smaller details, the operational steps and the project management just weren’t something they enjoyed.

I, on the other hand, am the crazy person that does enjoy it- and I’m good at it. Not only can I give those amazing fractional directors the resource to operate as a fully outsourced team, but I can offer ways to extend their service, leverage their relationships and increase their income. 

This is where my passion lies and is the genesis of the moves I am making but I still have an amazing team in place who are able to meet the needs of administrative, marketing or other contracts. 

Goldspun Support will still be here to support small businesses and entrepreneurs, we are still here to stop burnout and overwhelm and now we are confidently standing up and saying that we are also here to support fractional directors to have more. More time, more money, more resource, more support. 

And believe me, we’re the best business friend you’ll ever have, 100% committed to your vision. 

What Else is Coming

But it’s not just a rebrand, there’s so much more coming and I just can’t keep it all to myself so, in no particular order I am going to be:

😱 Putting live my Brilliant Brand Basics course and resources as a full course and individual modules to help new business owners get marketing with no nonsense, no bs and a whole lot of common sense.

😱 Recording and launching a brand new podcast which is an incredibly exciting way for me to bring my knowledge and experience over the years to a wider audience.

😱 Repackaging some of my most popular services so they are more accessible in a bit sized, pick n mix sort of way.

Abraham Maslow, renowned American psychologist said: "In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety."

I think that is one of the most powerful things about life. We have choices and although they’re not always easy or straightforward they are there.

There is no shame in stepping back, keeping yourself safe and looking after yourself. I’ve done it, I did it for years and it was the right choice for me.

But I’m no longer doing that, I’m stepping forward. I’m embracing growth and change and the next phase of my life. 

And I could not be more excited about it.
